Selentha's giggled at Sethos' joke as the stepped up the temple stairs. The sun was just hitting the edge, slowly casting shadows over the temple. Statues glittered and people seemed to bask in the softening light. Ra was setting and her thoughts wandered as they passed by the main ritual room. The bed still was there, its sheets clean and sheer curtains blowing gently in the wind. She smiled slightly, glancing at Sethos before looking forward to see the main room coming into view. The hallways seemed more wide then before. Lower Priests and Priestess' bowing to the two of them as the left the temple back to homes and sleep until a new day.
Holding her robes, she peeked around a pillar to see Ancrete standing in front of the center monument. Her cheeks flushed. Why was she here when she knew he was going to be here? Well..she DID have to say her goodbyes to her God before heading into her chambers. Biting her lip, she glanced back to see Sethos go stiff.
She sighed and took her hair out of its ornaments, placing them in her bag she had brought with her. She wore no make-up so she didnt need to find the fountain.
"Good eve...again Ancrete" she softly called out, stepping forward

Having returned to the Temple of Ra, the young man had done nothing but furiously prowl hallways, ignore others and quite simply, pace. After the incident in the courtyard, mere hours ago, Ancrete was trying his best to assess the situation and calm down, and needless to say, it wasn’t working too well. ‘Damn that Sethos! Not only is he undermining my authority he’s stealing Selen away from-‘; he stopped himself from completing the thought. ‘Take deep breaths, deep breaths… damn it!’ it seemed that despite his best efforts he could do nothing but rage about. It was about this time that Ancrete tried to calm himself in what he only just remembered as the best way of calming down.
He marched along until he found himself at his destination: The Monument of Ra himself. Looking at the Sun god’s statue, he remembered his charge and began to calm down. He was almost at peace… almost. Feeling he was done calming down (or at least was as calmed down as he would soon get) Ancrete was about to leave. Then he heard her voice.
"Good eve...again Ancrete"
He steeled himself and turned around. There she stood once again, the striking beauty that was Selentha. He let himself smile. She was the only thing that could make him at peace it seemed. But before he could even approach her or respond, he walked in behind her, once again.
“Selentha, I’m glad you’ve returned.” His voice had a tone of coldness which he directed straight at Sethos. Without a sense of better judgment he impulsively asked “Is the High Priest here for a reason?”
With that horrible excuse for a greeting he could feel Sethos glare daggers at him, but Ancrete simply didn’t care. He was getting fed up with his continuous intrusions… ‘On what?’ he heard himself ask. Although his immediate response was that he didn’t know, he started to realize somewhere in the back of his head, that he knew the answer to that question…

Standing barely inches behind his partner, he held his darkening blue eyes on the newest object of his frustration. Challenges were not something he was used to, and though he liked the thought, it wouldn't be over something like this. He was protecting Selen, and that's all there was to do. So what if Ancrete was her guard, this has been his partner longer then that idiot had been her guard.
“Is the High Priest here for a reason?” he registered the challenge in the man's voice, and his eyes burned almost black with anger. 'So that's how you wish to play it then..' he thought with almost malice.
"Whatever it is I wish to be doing...And in bringing my dear partner back here, it seems I was doing you're job..Guard.." he added his last words, dripping with his well deserved authority."Perhaps you should have Selen here teach you some control since you seem to be lacking in the thinking catagory.."

“Is the High Priest here for a reason?”Ancrete spat out, his visible eye glowing dangerously.
Selentha squeaked, her silver-blue orbs widening at how protective Ancrete seemed. Sethos pulled her closely, and she went stiff. The electricity seemed to zap between them violently. Oh ra...save them. Selentha sighed softly and gazed at Ancrete. She was about to take a step forward when Sethos snapped into action with a retort that dripped with anger.
"Whatever it is I wish to be doing...And in bringing my dear partner back here, it seems I was doing you're job..Guard.." he added his last words, dripping with his well deserved authority."Perhaps you should have Selen here teach you some control since you seem to be lacking in the thinking catagory.."
Selentha turned suddenly, gazing at her partner. Never once did he say such words to someone close to her. She stepped forward, standing between the two men. Her hands balanced on her hips as she glared at each of them like small children.
"You two..Please stop bickering like children!" she scolded,"Ancrete...Sethos is my partner...respect him and Sethos...Ancrete is someone whom I lo-" she stopped herself, her cheeks flaming up as she bit her lip,"Someone dear...so please be good"

"Whatever it is I wish to be doing…” Sethos had responded. Ancrete grew only more furious as the Priest continued. “...And in bringing my dear partner back here, it seems I was doing your job...Guard...” Sethos had looked his challenge in the face and wasn’t going to back down it seemed. “Perhaps you should have Selen here teach you some control since you seem to be lacking in the thinking category.."
‘Why that little piece of… he’s not just looking down on me, he’s trying to squash me like a bug!’ Before he had a chance to do anything to the man, her voice stopped them both.
"You two… Please stop bickering like children!" she scolded, "Ancrete...Sethos is my partner… respect him and Sethos...Ancrete is someone whom I lo-" She paused. He took note. "Someone dear...so please be good."
Ancrete silently let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, but he could only wonder. ‘Was she about to say… wait, what WAS she about to say?’ It didn’t matter for now, he had caused her grief and he had to apologize… no matter how hard a hit to his pride that may have been.
“I apologize, for having been rude to your partner and for having caused you trouble. Please forgive me Selen.” He knelt and awaited her judgment.

"You two..Please stop bickering like children!" he heard her snap, and he glanced at her instead of her guard for a moment. "Ancrete...Sethos is my partner...respect him and Sethos...Ancrete is someone whom I lo-" her slip up did not go unnoticed on either side it seemed and he had to fight back the smart ass comment that so longed to slip from his throat. "Someone dear...so please be good"
He stood slightly straighter, taking her words into consideration for a moment. He had heard correctly, and knew what she was going to say. The time was coming for him to have a private conversation with this man. But if he did that right now, the priest was sure to kill him, so he waited.
“I apologize, for having been rude to your partner and for having caused you trouble. Please forgive me Selen.” he acknowledged the obviously forced apology with a sidelong glance and a "hmmph" face. He would not apologize for being right, and that was that.

"I apologize, for having been rude to your partner and for having caused you trouble. Please forgive me Selen.” Ancrete went on his knees, a serious look on his face she smiled warmly, stepping forwad slowly. She slowly went on her ownknees, leaning up, due to still being shorter than Ancrete, and cupped his face with her small hands.
"Please...its alright.." she softly said, she gazed into his mis-matched eyes, her own silver-blue reflecting in his. She was about to lean forward more, her own thoughts disappearing when she realized her partner was behind her. She could FEEL that smirk. Blushing hotly, she stumbled backwards.
"Oh dear..I need to pay my respects before the sun sets fully!" she squeaked and stood up quickly, stumbling as she scurried in a flurry of robes to kneal before the alter. She relaxed, closing her eyes and clasping her hands together as she paid her respects. The sunlight warmed her face as she softly sung a tune.

Ancrete was startled when, instead of her torso, he saw her head in front of his, hands holding his face. "Please...it’s alright…" she said, eyes clear with forgiveness, and something more.
He wasn’t sure how long they stayed like that, but he knew it was too long than should be necessary, because he could feel a nameless urge rise up… and, if he didn’t stop when he (or rather she) did, things may have gotten very complicated, very fast.
"Oh dear..I need to pay my respects before the sun sets fully!"
He watched her as she frantically assumed her position, kneeling in front of the stone Idol, and slowly began singing.
He was enraptured.
Her voice was so captivating he felt like there was nothing wrong in the world and had even forgotten that Sethos was even in the room… but, as fate would have it, her prayer to Ra was over and he would have to make do with the dysfunctional world they had. As she stood up, before she could say anything, Ancrete spoke.
“Is there anything you need Selen, anything at all?”

"Oh dear..I need to pay my respects before the sun sets fully!" he heard her quickly scurry to her needed location, and moments later her fluid voice filled the room.
As always, the calming affect of her words affected him and he quite nearly forgot why he had been arguing in the first place. However, being the stubborn man he was, and not wanting to loose a "fight", he shook himself out of the stupor and glared at the now captivated soldier standing near him.
“Is there anything you need Selen, anything at all?” kiss ass, he thought with a huff of air. His back straightened and he turned his head to watch his partner rather then waste his thinking time staring at someone else.
"I'll be watching over her for the moment, but we'll let you know when you're actually needed again." he commented in a dry, humorless voice. He leaned onto the cold wall, with a contemplating look on his stern face.

“Is there anything you need Selen, anything at all?”Ancrete asked, Selentha turned around to meet his gaze as she smiled warmly, shaking her head. Before she could reply Sethos made a remark.
"I'll be watching over her for the moment, but we'll let you know when you're actually needed again."Sethos replied dryly as he stood close by her. Selentha puckered her lower lip into a pout as she huffed at Sethos. "Sethos! He was just trying to help" she lightly smacked Sethos' hand, smiling slightly as she leaned up and kissed him before turning back to Ancrete.
"No thank you Ancrete, I think its time for you and I to go though back to our room..uh I mean..my room anyway" she coughed and lightly blushed, the sun now set and night starting to wash into the temple. She straightened her robes, glancing over at her partner who had an unamused look at Ancrete. Sighing, she lightly held his hand before walking froward a bit then stopping to glance over at Ancrete.
"Shall you be coming back Ancrete? Its dark and I do think it will be your turn on watch at our- my room.." she smiled warmly, the moonlight shimmering her eyes and casting its usual aura around her.

Sethos had spoken up. "I'll be watching over her for the moment, but we'll let you know when you're actually needed again." As he lent against the wall, Ancrete couldn’t help but glare at the blunt comment.
"Sethos! He was just trying to help!" With a cute, puffy face, Selentha berated Sethos and lightly smacked his hand. She relaxed as she leaned up to kiss him, the sight of which made Ancrete’s expression go almost steely. She then turned to face her personal guard as she spoke.
"No thank you Ancrete, I think its time for you and I to go though back to our room..uh I mean..my room anyway" she coughed and lightly blushed. Ancrete couldn’t help but redden lightly himself at the unintended implications of the statement, but he fought against the rising heat within and kept a calm cool face. He knew Sethos was watching and if he should slip up, the Priest would decide he was even more incompetent than he had originally thought (and often made quite clear).
Selentha picked up her robes and began to walk towards her chambers when she turned her head. With the sun having gone down during their conversation, Ancrete watched as moonlight filtered in from the skylight, hitting the Priestess’ robes and causing them to glitter as her own visage shone while she spoke. "Shall you be coming back Ancrete? Its dark and I do think it will be your turn on watch at our- my room.."
Snapping to attention, Ancrete replied. “Of course my lady, I need to speak with Baxton as it is…” He hesitated as he felt somewhat guilty over his treatment of Sethos. Not because he was actually sorry, but because Selentha would appreciate if the two of them at least got along.
“…but before I take you-“, he turned to face Sethos, “-do you require an escort?” He asked the question as tactfully as he could (there were so many ways it could have gone wrong) and he hoped he got the ‘truce’ message across.

"Shall you be coming back Ancrete? Its dark and I do think it will be your turn on watch at our- my room.." a frown formed on his face. Of course she would invite him back, she liked him. This was beginning to get harder to control, but he wouldn't give up that easily.
“-do you require an escort?” he turned to the guard with an unreadable expression. Did he dare imply that the high priest could not handle himself against mere mortals??
"I'll can handle myself thank you.." he said, turning and walking slightly slowly, waiting for his partner to follow him. Brooding the entire time, in a way "sulking" as Selen would call it.

She bowed, looking up and smiled warmly, "I'll see you back at the room then Ancrete....goodbye for now" she softly called as she turned on her heel in a flurry of robes.
Running to catch up with her partner she began to walk, taking a retreating glance back to see Ancrete. Silver-blue orbs clashed with his own mismatched gold and crimson ones. A smile reached her lips as she lifted her hand and waved silently.
Glancing up at her partner she smiled, taking his hand and giggling. Their fingers intertwined and she squeezed it gently.
"Neeee Partner you dont need to be so glum..." her eyes went downcast and she smiled gently,"You'll always be my partner even if something happened between Ancrete and I..."

Sethos looked insulted as he replied "I can handle myself thank you...” Sethos then turned and swiftly marched away. With that, Ancrete knew that his attempt at a truce just fell through the cracks. Trying to hide his disdain, he turned his attention to the priestess as she spoke to him. "I'll see you back at the room then Ancrete....goodbye for now."
Once Selentha was out of sight, Ancrete sighed in defeat. He realized that there was just too much friction between himself and Sethos and more importantly, the fact that Selentha wouldn’t accept him unless he could accept the high priest as well. Ancrete began retreating to Selen’s chambers as he let the little hurricane of emotions storm in his head. ‘I guess all I can do is… wait...’ thought Ancrete as he left the altar of Ra.
