The princess took a deep breath and entered the temple of Ra. It has been a while since she even stepped foot in a temple, she wasn't on very good terms with the gods. Entering, it's like she could feel them watching her... The priest that was in the temple looked at her and walked out.
As soon as she heard his footsteps dissipate, she decided to take a few more steps further, until she reached the main pathway that lead to a very lit up and decorated shrine.
She was alone at the pathway that lead to the alter.
The heavy smell of very woody incense intoxicated her mind. The candles were lit, all of them, and the soft light glimmered off of the gold that adorned every inch of this temple. The oils that sat at the barely visible alter were still as death.
Walking up to that alter, she felt her heart beating faster and faster. She had no idea why she was becoming so nervous.
It was night time, the princess figured that Ra would be more apt to listen to her at night, than during the day. Call it crazy, but that is just her reasoning. She couldn't even remember the last time she prayed, to be completely honest.
Approaching the alter, she inhaled very deeply and exhaled with just as much force. She had no idea what she was doing.
She started, "Ra, if I may be so blunt in saying your name, are you there? Can you hear me? You know, I am not even sure of what to say... But if you are there... Can you give me a sign?"
She wasn't sure if anything was going to happen or not. Blue eyes looked to the bench that was closest to her and she decided to sit down and close her eyes, maybe if she was lucky, Ra had indeed heard her and wasn't too upset with her calling upon him without actual reason... And without having said anything to him in so long... Much less any of the other gods and goddesses.

Selentha sat amongst the candles in a small area isolated from the main praying room where she looked upon the scrolls to study as it was now when Ra had finally set and the moon shined brightly into the temple. Her elaborate make up and clothing were gone for the night as she merely dressed in simple priestess robes and had her hair hidden away behind a cloth. Selentha sighed quietly, lifting her arms to stretch for a moment when a quiet cough made her freeze and she looked up to see a priest standing in the doorway. She motioned for him to come in as he discussed with her a new presence in the temple. Selentha raised her eyebrows as to who was visiting before standing up and straightening her clothing to be more presentable.
"Do keep the others and yourself at a distance so we may respect the princess' prayers," She replied gently before walking in the direction of the main prayer room.
Selentha paused in her steps when she heard Kisara's words. She smiled sweetly before coming to kneel next to the girl. Her hands came to rest on the cool tile.
"Ra does hear your voice my dearest princess, he basks you in warmth in the day and at night he whispers to you in your sleep of a new day. Forgive me princess, may I ask your questioning? I can be glad to help if I am able to."

The princesses eyes opened as she heard light footsteps approaching. She wondered for a second who it was, until she saw the high priestess in her peripheral vision.
At this she sat up straight and with perfect posture, unsure if there was to be a priest to follow. Slouching would surely get her reprimanded.
Looking at the very beautiful woman, who was kneeling next to her, she smiled at the way her hair looked just as wonderful with her it tied back and simple, as when it is perfectly done. Infact, she could even smell the incense, that the priestess was around so much, on her. Her eyes captured the candle's flickering light and reflected such caring, that the princess believed that she could trust her with her innermost thoughts.
"Ra does hear your voice my dearest princess, he basks you in warmth in the day and at night he whispers to you in your sleep of a new day. Forgive me princess, may I ask your questioning? I can be glad to help if I am able to."
The princess smiled and replied, "I honestly have no idea what I am saying." a small nervous giggle escaped her lips and looking away, she continued, "But I just do not know how the gods feel for me. I mean, I rarely if ever pray and I can't say that I am the most pious. I don't know how I can ask for anything, really."
She scratched her right arm with her left hand in an almost nervous or shy manner. She was about to continue, but thought better of it. In the words of the a few of the priests, A princess should be seen and not heard.
Looking back to the priestess, she moved over on the bench and offered her a seat next to her. She felt as though she could really use a bit of comfort at the moment.

Selentha laughed," You don't really have to say anything at all. They listen and speak back through nature." She blinked when the seat was offered to her and was about to politely decline when she noticed how the princess gazed upon her. Selentha blushed lightly before coming to sit next to Kisara and taking off her cloth that covered her hair. Her eyes roamed the princess' figure as she studied her curiously. It was rare to see her outside at night, especially with the guardsmen and protective fathers. She tenderly patted the girl's robed knee with a slender hand before speaking," The Gods and Goddesses are not to mistreat you dearest princess, not many people come to this temple to pray but merely seek answers like you have done. I have no worry they mean no harm by your current state of mind."
She smiled," what troubles you dear that you worry the Gods and Goddesses dislike you so?"

Soft lips smiled as the priestess took the seat that she had offered. She watched as the young priestess remove the cloth that kept her hair back and each strand gracefully caress her face and neck all the way to her shoulders.
As she felt the soft hand of this woman touch her knee, she did not move it away. Quite the opposite, actually. It was comforting to feel the touch of someone, when the princess so looked for attention. It might have been that she was around someone who gave off very positive energy that she started to calm down, but whatever it was, she was grateful.
She wanted to rest against the priestess, to go into a hug, however that would be greatly inappropriate. It was impossible for Kisara to show too much emotion. She was taught to never let people see how you really feel. The other person might get the upper hand on you one day, but this was so untrue to the princess' inner nature.
Kisara was about to speak freely, but understood the consequences that could also come along with this. She was taught to always be on guard with what she says and how she says it, that she began to proof-read her own words.
Thinking about the question carefully, she replied, "I doubt them. I have never been completely sure that they exist. I understand that the beauty of this world has to come from some where, however I question all of this. I feel horrid for saying it. I have never been convinced of their reality."
The princess was sure that this statement had the chance of offending the priestess. She didn't want her to leave or thing that the princess was a blasphemer.
She looked to the from the priestess to the alter, where she kept them for sometime. Awaiting the woman's response, she bit her lip slightly, even though she was always strongly advised against this.

"I doubt them. I have never been completely sure that they exist. I understand that the beauty of this world has to come from some where, however I question all of this. I feel horrid for saying it. I have never been convinced of their reality."the princess replied rather awkwarly, glancing up to the priestess to see if she offended her in anyway. Selentha was rather silent but she looked calm, a small smile merely on her lips as she looked to the princess before patting her hand gently. Her silver-blue iris' gazed upon the alter and she hummed a sigh.
"It is common to question the reality of the existance of whom we pray daily upon. I as well did the very same before I became a priestess. Even during my training--" Selen paused at that before replying again, Her days during her training as a priestess were dark days she never spoke to anyone. They remained hidden in her mind and locked away," We all have special things about us you know. Its what proves that they are very much real. Some of us just have very unique things such as I who can heal people with a simple kiss to the temple and touch of the wound and illness."
Selentha stood with ease, extending her hand to the princess. She gave another encouraging smile," Do follow me. Perhaps we may go explore the area. I do enjoy a good nightly walk around the temple. You see things in a new light sometimes---" her eyes glittered mysteriously," and perhaps you see things you glance back upon and wonder if you really saw."

The princess looked at the priestess as she spoke with a smile that let her know that he words were comforting her. The way she spoke and her mannerisms were as soft as the hand that she placed upon the princess.
Then the priestess stood and extended a hand. She took it, but only after the priestess said -
"...and perhaps you see things you glance back upon and wonder if you really saw."
Kisara did not understand what the priestess meant by this. Were there actually things that the gods did, had the princess been ignoring them? Or was she speaking in a more symbolic sense?
The young girl arose and stood shorter than the priestess, which was natural, because she was shorter than most people.
"Dear priestess, or Selen, if I may call you that, what do you mean? I would assume you are talking about the gods, right?"
The princess looked down and noticed that her long gown would trip her if she were to walk even an inch, so she picked up two ends of the white linen that simultaneously graced and hugged her form and she tided the two together.
This was common practice for the princess under the hot Egyptian sun or when Jono would take her out to the Nile for a slight swim.
Coming back to the present, Kisara looked up at the priestess and took a deep inhale through her nose. The heavy incense filled her senses, both taste and smell.
She could recognize the smell, it was a mixture of rose and jasmine. This is what the hallway to her room smelled of... Maybe that was sign one from the gods.
The smell made her feel very comfortable and safe, and so was the priestess. Looking back to her, she smiled and waited for the woman to lead.
